Ponchatoula Man Dies in Vehicle Fire

Ponchatoula, La – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reports the death of 54 year old Edward Wallace, Jr. who died as a result of a vehicle fire earlier this week.
Sheriff Daniel Edwards says on August 15, 2023, deputies along with the Ponchatoula Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire around 7:00 PM at the intersection of Sontheimer Road and the S. I-12 Service Road in Hammond. Upon arrival, responders discovered a deceased male in the vehicle, who was later identified as Edward Wallace, Jr.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to the scene and conducted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
Sheriff Edwards says foul play is not believed to be a factor in this incident, however, the investigation is still ongoing.
