GSU Baseball Alum Hillary Bossier to be Inducted into SWAC Hall of Fame

Grambling University alum and baseball standout, Hillary Bossier is set to be an inductee into the 2024 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Hall of Fame Class. The induction ceremony is slated for December 13th, 2024 at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bossier, who is a native of Edgard, in St John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana, had led the nation with a 0.53 earned run average in 1961, as Grambling State won its first-ever Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball title.He was a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, NAIA, All-American at the pitcher position.

“I’ve been working with Bossier for a long time, and I think this honor is fitting,” Kurt Becnel, councilman at St John the Baptist Parish and business associate of Bossier said in a phone interview. “He’s been a good friend and it’ll be really special.”

He and the team advanced for the first of four national NAIA tournament appearances under R.W.E Jones. Bossier signed with the Midwest’s minor-league affiliate of the New York Mets, going 6-2 in 1962 with 71 innings pitched. Bossier is a member of the Grambling State University’s Legends Sports Hall of Fame.

Bossier received his Bachelor’s degree from Grambling State University in Physical Education with a minor in Social Studies. He went on to earn his Master’s in Secondary Education and joined Second Ward High School in Edgard, Louisiana as an educator and began his coaching career in football as a defensive coordinator, and head baseball coach. 

Bossier retired as a Supervisor of Instruction for St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools and founded IMPCO, Inc., a leading wholesale distributor of maintenance, janitorial, and operating (MRO) products and services.

He resides in Edgard, Louisiana where he is an avid golfer and President of IMPCO, Inc.
