The NFL kicks off Super Bowl weekend in New Orleans with the Play Football Family Festival on Feb. 8, featuring youth and high school activities in football.
It will be held at Hahnville High School in St Charles Parish from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT.
The event provides families with a free, interactive football experience, delivering the excitement of the game to youth and high school football communities, fans, and coaches.
It will focus on football, enabling local youth to meet current NFL players and legends, learn skills, try on Riddell equipment, and experience the game like never before.
“The Play Football Family Festival is a free event offered to communities in the neighboring city of the Super Bowl location,” said Roman Oben, NFL vice president of football development.“This is our fifth year presenting the event, which offers families a chance to enjoy the festivities that are shared during the week of the game.
“We are elated to host the Play Football Family Festival at Hahnville High School and make an impact in the Boutte, Louisiana community and beyond. We are dedicated to our youth and high school football communities, and this year’s event will allow participants to learn the fundamentals of the game from current and former NFL players and coaches,” he said.
The NFL promotes youth and high school football year-round. The Play Football initiative offers engaging camps, NFL FLAG, and tackle leagues, helping young players develop essential life skills for success on and off the field.
Local youth and families can engage with the New Orleans Saints, Super Bowl team cheerleaders and mascots, obstacle courses, food trucks, and giveaways.
