Kentwood, La – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffs Office reports the death of 26 year old Tommie Diamond of Kentwood, who took is own life as deputies attempted to take him into custody for the murder of Calvin Felton.

Chief Jimmy Travis says Diamond was being sought for second degree murder, obstruction of justice, and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile in relation to the May 28, 2023 shooting death of Calvin Felton.

On June 1, 2023 at approximately 11:30 PM, investigators learned Diamond was located at a family member’s residence in Kentwood via his court mandated ankle monitor. Upon coming in contact with Diamond, deputies say Diamond armed himself with a handgun and barricaded himself inside the residence.

The TPSO Special Response Team, which was already on scene, began negotiating with Diamond who made several threats of committing suicide by cop. After several hours of unsuccessful negations, SRT operators heard what sounded to be a gun shot from the interior of the residence. Operators then flew a drone into the residence where Diamond was found deceased from a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
Diamond was also currently out of jail on bond for a second degree murder charge stemming from the Roseland trail ride shooting in August 2020, which claimed the life of a 21 year old Baton Rouge mother.
