LAPLACE — On May 12, 2023, Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School Principal Mr. Doug Triche and Vice Principal Ms. Addie Melancon celebrated two young authors who will be self-published this summer, Miss Sadie LeBlanc and Miss Paisley Morris.

     Sadie LeBlanc, who is a fifth grader at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School, is officially the first student to become a self-published author in the writing program.  Upon her completion of the “Write Now Write Away “Creative Writing, Editing, and Publishing program at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School and under the Creative Writing Direction and tutelage of Ms. Leslie P. Clanton, the Middle School English Language Arts teacher at AOL, Sadie’s novel, The “Calling of the Gemstone,” a story about two young girls with special powers who must fight “The darkness,” will be available for purchase on Amazon.com starting this summer. Ms. Clanton had this to say about Sadie: “Sadie is a natural writer and truly gifted in calling to mind her vision and executing it through her writing. I see her becoming well-known for her stories in the future.”

      In addition to Sadie LeBlanc, Paisley Morris, who is a sixth grader at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School, is our second student to become a self-published author.  Upon her completion of the “Write Now Write Away” Creative Writing, Editing, and Publishing program at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School, Paisley’s novel, “Sinful,” the story of a young girl fighting for her life while facing the seven deadly sins, will be available on Amazon.com this summer. Ms. Clanton has this to say about Paisley: “Paisley is a highly creative and logical writer that has found her true passion in fiction, science fiction and horror writing. I hope to see her write more novels in the future.”

     Ms. Clanton, along with the Creative Writing students and parents, would like to thank Mr. Triche and Ms. Melancon for helping to promote the “Write Now Write Away” Creative Writing After School Program, and we look forward to doing this again next year with many more writers to come.
