“Create in me a clean heart and renew the right spirit within me, oh Lord” is a constant prayer of mine. Simple words when said from the heart are powerful.

The power of them gives God access by his Holy Spirit to do as we request. Asking God to create in us a clean heart signifies that we have identified something in our heart that doesn’t reflect his. For his heart is pure and clean without darkness.

When our heart isn’t like his, we can’t see or resemble his actions. Creating and renewing helps us become more like our creator. They go hand and hand like peanut butter and jelly, sand on a beach or an umbrella with the cry of clouds on a rainy day.

The definition of renew is to make like new, restore to freshness, vigor, or perfection according to Merriam-Webster.

Our spirit is our innermost part where our God conscience is located. Through our spirit we speak to God and he speaks to us. But we must take care, because our spirit can become contaminated by darkness through what/who  we listen to, look at or read. Darkness represents the actions and words of the devil. It’s the opposite of light and freedom. Anytime we detect a desire to say or do something that opposes the standards of God, it’s a sign that our spirit has been contaminated. Yet where there is a problem there is also a solution. The solution for a contaminated heart and spirit is always asking God to create in us a clean heart and to renew the right spirit within us in Jesus name. God Bless!
