LULING — The Chosen Ones Foundation is hosting its inaugural Autism Awareness & Acceptance Bubbles & Balloon Bash from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 30 at the West Bank Bridge Park, located at 13825 River Road in Luling.

Entry is free, and children of all ages are invited to enjoy face painting, sensory tables, a miniature train ride, a gaming truck, informational booths, entertainment, snowballs, yummy food and much more. Please plan to bring your own chairs and wear autism gear or your favorite color of the rainbow.

This event is intended to promote community awareness, inclusion and education about Autism Spectrum Disorder; while also providing a place to foster friendships and show families facing developmental disabilities love and support.

Ama native Precious Alexander founded The Chosen Ones Foundation after her son, Rio, was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at 3 years old in April 2021. A year of late night hours spent researching the best ways to support her son made Alexander realize that she couldn’t just be Rio’s parent; she needed to be his voice and his advocate. She had a God-given vision to plan an autism awareness event in her community in 2022. After just five days of planning, more than 50 children and adults attended the event, traveling from as far as New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Thibodaux and Vacherie to show their support.
