Sheriff Greg Champagne announces the arrest of Jereme Leo Ledet, a 42-year-old Destrehan resident for charges stemming from a business burglary in Luling.
On April 17 at approximately 8:05 a.m., deputies with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a business burglary in the 300 block of Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway in Luling. The complainant reported a bay door was partially open and the fabrication area of the business appeared to be in disarray. Numerous power and hand tools were reported missing.
Video surveillance from the area shows a white pickup truck entering the parking lot of a nearby business on April 17 at approximately 2:07 a.m. and exiting moments later. Approximately two minutes later, the truck returns, and a passenger exits and walks toward the business that was burglarized. The truck is parked in the lot for approximately thirty-eight minutes before exiting. Approximately seven minutes later, the truck again returns to the parking lot and a subject is observed running to the truck. The truck exits the parking lot approximately one minute later at 2:56 a.m.
Through investigation, detectives determined the white pickup truck involved belonged to Ledet. On Tuesday, April 18,  the white pickup truck was located parked in an empty lot next to Ledet’s residence.
Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for Ledet’s residence and truck. During a search of the residence, items reported stolen from the business were located.
Detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Jereme Leo Ledet. Ledet was booked at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center and charged with Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Business.
This is an active and ongoing investigation.
