LAPLACE — Dr. Jasmine Scott always knew she wanted to work with her hands. When God put her on a path to becoming a chiropractor, she learned she could use her hands to heal others.

Dr. Scott recently celebrated the opening of her new clinic, Attraction Wellness Center, on April 14 at 501 Rue De Sante Ste. 11 in LaPlace. By offering an evidence-based approach to chiropractic care, Dr. Scott is able to not only treat existing pain, but also lead her patients into a healthier, pain-free lifestyle.

“Chiropractors believe that the body heals itself. We provide input to the spine to allow the body to heal itself,” Dr. Scott said.

A native of New Orleans, Scott graduated from Edna Karr High School and pursued higher education at Howard University prior to obtaining a doctorate degree from Parker University in Dallas.

Dr. Scott was drawn to St. John the Baptist Parish to be closer to family. When her sister was murdered, she gained custody of three nieces and a nephew and currently raises them alongside two young children of her own.

Dr. Scott’s faith guides her through all aspects of her life as she helps patients achieve their individualized health goals. She is certified to treat spinal, musculoskeletal and post-surgical conditions, as well as sciatic nerve pain, though a combination of chiropractic manipulation and soft tissue techniques.

Dr. Scott practices the Cox technique, a spinal decompression method that utilizes a moving table.

“We believe functional motion into the joints is the best way to help the spine,” Dr. Scott said. “Along with the adjustment, it gives that person an overall better chance at healing.”

Attraction Wellness Center also offers ultrasound, heat and cold therapy, electric stimulation, and dry needling to reduce pain and muscle tension. Moving forward, the clinic will also offer functional medicine supplements to give the body the extra support it needs to heal.

Dr. Scott treats patients as a whole — mentally, physically and emotionally. By offering lifestyle advice, she is able to advise patients on whether their choices are worsening or improving their condition as they aim to live a healthier life.

Attraction Wellness Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday.
