On March 29, at 6:54 P.M., the Kenner Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance and vehicle theft complaint, which had occurred approximately 30 minutes prior, in the 3300 block of Colorado Avenue, Kenner.
Officers learned that the suspect, later identified as Reginald White, 24, Metairie, La, was involved in an altercation with his girlfriend of 5 months. During the altercation it was alleged that Reginald White armed himself with a handgun and forced his girlfriend into her vehicle, against her will, and to drive to several nearby ATM machines. Reginald White then under threat of harm made his girlfriend make several withdrawals until her account access was suspended.
After forcing the victim to making the bank withdrawals, White then drove the victim to her residence where he forced her out of her vehicle and fled the area.
At 9:04 P.M., Kenner Police Officers observed the victim’s vehicle being operated on 33rd Street and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Reginald White, refused to stop and led officers on a vehicle pursuit which ended at West Metairie and North Lester in Metairie. During the pursuit, a handgun was discarded from the window of his vehicle.
Reginald White and a second person fled from the vehicle on foot in which White was quickly apprehended. The identity of the second person is unknown at this time. The discarded handgun was recovered.
Upon searching Reginald White, 6.4 grams of marijuana and a debit card belonging to the victim were located on his person.
Reginald White has been charged with four counts Armed Robbery, Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Aggravated Assault of a Dating Partner, Obstruction of Justice, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Stolen Things, Felon Carrying and Illegal Weapon.
