President Gallot and GSU’s Bernetta Ambres Ambassador Tour team will begin with L.B. Landry High School at 8:30 a.m. before moving to Inspire NOLA Charter school at 10 a.m., Warren Easton Charter High School at noon, and St. Augustine High School at 1:30 p.m.

On Thursday, March 30, the day begins at 9 a.m. with Kipp New Orleans Charter Schools before moving to River Parishes High Schools at 11:15 a.m., and East St. John High School at 1 p.m. That afternoon, a luncheon will be held at Petra Restaurant and lounge followed by a fundraiser at 7 pm. at the Junior League of New Orleans headquarters.

On Friday, March 31, Gallot will be at St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory School at 8:15 a.m. before ending the tour with Jefferson Parish Public Schools System at 10 a.m.

The tour is named after Bernetta Ambres who was a district speech therapist, but wore many hats within the St. John Parish School system. Some of these included Founder of Elite Ladies Club, Language Learning Center Coordinator, St. John Special Education Chairperson, National African American Read-In Coordinator and Black History Program Organizer.
Ambres was best known for coordinating annual visits from the president of Grambling State University allowing students to learn more about the virtues of higher education and the benefits of attending Grambling State University.  Since 2015, the visits have continued uninterrupted and now bear her name in honor of her commitment to the children of the parish and her beloved Grambling.

Ambes passed in 2018. She was married to her soul mate of 26 years, Kevin Ambres, and resided in LaPlace, Louisiana.
