On Monday, March 20, 2023, about 9 a.m., officers initiated an investigation into a littering incident on Main Street in LaPlace.
Reviewing video captured by a surveillance camera in the area, officers observed a truck pull off of Main Street on March 19, 2023, about 9 p.m., and a subject exited the truck and dumped mattresses and a box spring onto the ground – only a few feet away from a No Littering sign posted along the road.
Through further investigation, officers identified and located the subject. The driver was issued a misdemeanor summons for littering and was ordered to pick up the items. Those convicted of litter violations face fines between $175 and $1,000.
“This person is going to learn a valuable and expensive lesson,” Sheriff Mike Tregre said.
