Southeast Louisiana Legal Services Hosts Free Legal Workshop for Seniors in St. James

St. James– St James Parish Department of Human Resources – Community Action Agency, in coordination with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS,) will be hosting four free legal workshops in St James Parish for seniors and their families. The workshops are open to all individuals in St James Parish who are 60 years of age or older, as well as their caregivers. 

These free legal workshops will provide seniors with an opportunity to learn more about their legal rights and receive valuable legal advice from experienced attorneys. The workshops will cover a range of legal topics relevant to seniors, including estate planning, healthcare directives, and elder abuse prevention. 

“We are excited to host this free legal workshop for seniors in St. James, LA,” said Director of Human Resources for St James Parish Ingrid LeBlanc. “We believe that everyone deserves access to the resources they need, such as legal assistance. These workshops are open to all members of our community who are over 60, and their caregivers.”

SLLS is a nonprofit law firm dedicated to achieving justice for low-income people in Louisiana by enforcing and defending their legal rights through civil legal aid, advocacy, and community education. The organization provides free legal assistance to low-income individuals in a variety of civil legal matters including divorce, custody, tax, consumer, foreclosure, bankruptcy, unemployment benefits, housing, public benefits, and more.
