The Boys of Spring RA baseball is 6-4-1 to start season

RESERVE—The Riverside Academy baseball team is off to a solid start to its 2023 season.

The boys got things started with a 3-3 tie at H.L. Bourgeois on Monday, Feb. 20. The team then went on to beat St. James 13-0 on Wednesday, Feb. 22, and Archbishop Shaw 2-1 on Thursday, Feb. 23 as part of the WGNO Tournament. The team lost to Holy Cross 7-0 on Friday, Feb. 24. The team then lost to Brother Martin 21-0 on Saturday, Feb. 25, but came back to beat Isidore Newman 2-1 later that day.

The Rebels lost to Chalmette 16-2 on Monday, Feb. 27 on the road.

On the first weekend in March the Rebels competed in the Riverdale Tournament, losing to De La Salle 10-6 on Thursday, March 2, beating Doyle 4-1 on Friday, March 3,  and beating Kenner Discovery Health and Science 4-3.

The Rebels competed March 10 in the Hammond Tournament with a double-header. They won against Albany High School with a score of 11 to 6. It was followed by a loss to Hammond High School with the final score of 6-10 in Hammond. They then played Saturday against Ponchatoula at Loranger with a loss of 20-1.

On Monday, March 13, the RA came back strong against St. Martin’s with a score of 7-1.

The Rebel’s next game is at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, March 16 at Brusley and on Friday at Terrebonne.

 

Kallie Bourgeois, a senior, is a second year journalism student. She is on the swim, soccer, and tennis team. She plans on attending Northwestern State University of Louisiana to major in Social Work. She plans on contributing articles to The Current Sauce at NSULA.
