Broken means that we are not whole in the present moment. That the wholeness of who we are has been fractured into pieces by what we are experiencing.

Even knowing that, we must still believe that the pieces can be put back together again. This happens when we give them to God. According to Psalms 34:18, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in the spirit.”

It is in the closeness between the brokenhearted and God that the pieces are made whole again. He gathers what we give Him and carefully places each part where it is needed. Sometimes He rearranges them with the intention of making us better.

Through many experiences of being broken, I can testify to the betterment of His actions. Brokenness gives God an opportunity to display His power and glory in our lives. So, no matter how many pieces we are broken in to it’s not the end of us. It’s just a set up for the best part of us to come together. Ultimately brokenness is the end of the old and the start of something new. So be encouraged!
