BATON ROUGE—After reviving the indoor track program, Riverside Academy concluded its season on a high note on Saturday, Feb. 18 at LSU. The final results were as follows:

Senior Scott White won the Division II state championship in the shot put with a distance of 49 feet, 6.25 inches.

Junior Noah Trepagnier finished ninth in the shot put with a distance of 40 feet, 1.50 inches.

Senior Cleveland Johnson  finished seventh in the 400 meter run with a time of 52.35 seconds.

Senior Elijah “Bill” Davis finished 12th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.23 seconds.

The 4×200 meter relay team of Cade Middleton, Jaedon Butler, Elijah Davis and Cleveland Johnson finished fifth with a time of 1:36.01.

“I think we had a very successful indoor season,” coach Craig Laborde said. “It was the first year we competed and (we) only took 10 or so kids to each meet. That being said, we had six qualify for the state meet, competing in four different events. Everybody who qualified performed very well, especially taking into account that as a 1A (school) during indoor track, we have to compete against all schools from 3A on down.”

The outdoor track season began Friday, March 3 at Thibodaux High School. The middle school track team had its first meet Saturday, March 4 at 9 a.m. at Southeastern University.

“I am very encouraged by those results and I think they put us in a really good position heading into the outdoor season this spring,” Laborde said.
