It is with saddened hearts that the family of Michael James Remondet, Sr, age 80, shares of his passing on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at his residence in LaPlace.

Survivors include his beloved companion of 19 years, Illeana Wust; his son Michael James Remondet, Jr and wife Lea Ann; his son Brent Joseph Remondet and wife Monique; his grandchildren Anna Remondet Rodriguez (Michael), Michael James Remondet III, Matthew Remondet, Noelle Remondet, and Claude Remondet; his sister Laura St. Martin (L.J.), his brother Paul Remondet (Karen), his sister Cathy Wells (Lenny), and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 34 years, Pauline Marie Cuti Remondet; his father Claude Joseph Remondet; his mother Elma Vicknair Remondet; his brothers David, C.J., and Gerald Remondet.

Mike graduated from Southeastern University with a degree in industrial engineering.  After graduation, he worked as a unit supervisor at Union Carbide/Dow Chemical and retired after 33 years.   In retirement, he enjoyed attending the many games and events of his grandchildren, traveling, working in his garden, and time spent with family and friends.   His work ethic was unmatched as well as his enthusiasm for fun and adventure. He was always up for a road trip, dance party, or family gathering.

Mike had a love for travel and adventure and never missed a chance to visit new places or meet new people.  His travels have taken him across the globe allowing him to eat his way through new countries and cultures. He was both a most congenial host and a most appreciated guest of any gathering. He appreciated the value and company of everyone. He was a dependable friend to anyone who met him or was in need.  His zest and enthusiasm for life was unmatched.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 12:00 PM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in LaPlace.  A private Interment will be held in Amite, LA.

Reverend David Ducote, Pastor of St. Joan of Arc will serve as Celebrant of the Mass and officiate at the services.

The family requests that visitation be observed at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of service.
