Carnival Season is a time of celebration and joy for visitors and locals alike in Louisiana. To ensure that everyone can enjoy Mardi Gras without fear of crime, the Louisiana State Police will be launching a three-day safety messaging plan, beginning today. Each day, a new safety message will be shared with helpful tips and information to protect vehicles, weapons, and overall Mardi Gras safety.

Today’s message focuses on vehicle theft.

Motor vehicles are an essential part of most our lives. But what would happen if your vehicle suddenly vanished? According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a vehicle is stolen every 39 seconds in the United States.

Without your vehicle, you can be left stranded and unable to go about your daily life. The financial burden of replacing a stolen vehicle can be overwhelming, and the emotional toll can be even more devastating. It is important to take the necessary steps to protect your vehicle and ensure that you are not the next victim of this costly crime.

The Louisiana State Police is committed to helping citizens reduce their vulnerability to motor vehicle theft and providing guidance on what to do if it does occur. To help protect your vehicle, we recommend the tips above.
