TANGIPAHOA PARISH – The State Fire Marshal’s Office has arrested a New Orleans man for allegedly setting fire to his estranged wife’s car.
Troy Ross, 31, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Thursday, Feb. 9, on one count each of Simple Arson and Felonious Stalking.
In the early morning hours of February 9, the Hammond Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle fire located in the 43000 block of Dillon Road. Fire investigators with the Hammond Fire Prevention Bureau learned the vehicle owner and her children had recently been threatened by Ross. SFM deputies were then requested to assist with the investigation.
Following an assessment of the scene and collecting witness statements, deputies determined the fire was intentionally set and Ross was identified as a suspect in the case.
With the assistance of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, Ross was located in Laplace and taken into custody. He was then transferred to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail where he was booked in connection with the case.
