NEW ORLEANS ARSON CASE RESULTS IN CONVICTION

ORLEANS PARISH – This week, a New Orleans woman pleaded guilty in a September 2020 arson case in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.
Jazlynn Major, 27, entered a plea of guilty to one count of Aggravated Arson. Major was given a sentence of 6 years in prison with three-and-a-half years suspended. The sentence also includes three years of active probation upon release.
Major was arrested in September 2020 for setting fire to her former apartment complex located in the 1600 block of Washington Avenue in New Orleans. At the time the fire was set, the complex was occupied by more than 20 families.
After Major was identified as a suspect in the case, she was located in Huntsville, Texas where she was taken into custody.
