Kenner Police arrest carjacker

On January 20, 2023, at 10:15 PM, Kenner Police investigated an armed carjacking that occurred in the 3200 block of Appian Street, Kenner. The victim advised he parked his 2007 Dodge Ram truck in the driveway of his residence and as he checked his mail, he was approached by the suspect armed with a handgun who demanded his property. The victim dropped his keys to the ground which the suspect retrieved and stole his truck.
Officers and detectives began combing the neighborhood for residences with video surveillance cameras, as well as Public Safety cameras located throughout the City and were able to piece together how the robbery occurred and the vehicle the suspect used, a yellow Dodge Challenger. That vehicle description and information was uploaded into a central information center for surrounding law enforcement agencies.
On January 23, 2023, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office located and stopped the suspect’s vehicle, the yellow Dodge Challenger. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Michael Crouch, 27, Harvey and was arrested for unrelated warrants and attachments.
Kenner Police executed a search warrant of Crouch’s vehicle and located a handgun matching the description of the one used by the robbery suspect and the victim’s truck keys in the vehicle.
Kenner Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Crouch and will be additionally charged with RS14:64.3-Armed Robbery Use of a Firearm and RS 14:67.26 (C)-Theft of a Motor Vehicle.
This is an ongoing investigation and additional arrests are expected.
