Fields – On January 20, 2023, shortly after 5:00 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of LA Hwy 109 and LA Hwy 389 in Beauregard Parish. The crash claimed the life of 18-year-old Aaron Bell Isbell III of DeRidder.
The initial investigation revealed a 2011 Dodge pickup truck, driven by Isbell, was traveling south on LA 109 when he failed to negotiate a left hand curve. The Dodge ran off the right hand side of the roadway, traveled back across LA 109, and struck a tree.
Isbell, who was not properly restrained, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Wearing a seat belt is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves in a crash. Louisiana law requires vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in all seating positions, day and night. We ask you to take three seconds to “buckle up!”
Troop D has investigated 2 fatal crashes resulting in 2 deaths in 2023.
