One fatality, 7 injuries reported following Killona tornado

Update: President Matthew Jewell and Sheriff Greg Champagne will hold a press conference regarding the damage and severe weather that took place throughout St. Charles Parish Wednesday this afternoon. KILLONA — A spokesperson for St. Charles Parish confirmed one fatality and seven injuries have been reported in relation to a tornado that struck Killona Wednesday afternoon.

The St. Charles Parish coroner reports that a 56-year-old female died after a tornado destroyed her house in the Killona area.

No further details have been released at this time.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that responding deputies have advised of heavy damage to residences in the area of Schoolhouse Road in Killona. Deputies have been checking residences.

President Jewell has declared a state of emergency due to the severe weather in St. Charles Parish.
