Hahnville — Ramey Arceneaux, 46, was sentenced by Judge Connie M. Aucoin on Friday, December 2, 2022. Arceneaux was convicted by a St. Charles Parish jury on September 16, 2022 after a four-day trial. Arceneaux was found guilty of the two charges for which he was tried, count one, molestation of a juvenile under 13 and count two, molestation of a juvenile between the age of 13 and 17 years old for more than one year. In advance of the sentencing, Assistant District Attorneys Casey Dieck and Rochelle Champagne Fahrig presented a victim impact statement to the court through the testimony of the victim. Following that impact statement, Judge Aucoin imposed a sentence of 35 years at hard labor on count one and 25 years at hard labor on count two. The court ordered both sentences be served without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence and further ordered the sentences to run concurrent with each other.

“From the outset of this prosecution, it has been the goal of my office and Assistant District Attorneys Casey Dieck and Rochelle Champagne Fahrig to provide the victim with the support she needed to use her voice so that she could tell her story,” said District Attorney Joel T. Chaisson, Il. “I commend the victim for displaying courage in the face of adversity to come forward and testify. Although the trauma of sexual abuse can never be erased, it is my hope that this conviction and sentence will bring closure for the victim and her support system so that she can begin her healing process.”
