Suzanna “Sue” Simoneaux Arceneaux passed away peacefully in her home on November 26, 2022 at the age of 87. Born on November 14, 1935 in Charenton, LA.  She grew up in Rayne, LA and then followed her husband’s career to Orange, TX which then brought them to LaPlace, LA where they raised their family and were active members of the community. Later in life, Sue and her husband, Delton, returned to their Acadian roots and moved back to Crowley, LA.

She was the beloved wife of the late Delton J. Arceneaux. Mother of Tanya A. St. Pierre (Kenneth), Toni A. Clay (Darrin), Terri A. Braud (David), Ted Arceneaux, the late Todd Arceneaux and Tami A. Levatino (Thomas). Grandmother of Shane Arceneaux (April), Lindsay Simoneaux (Ross), Jenna Oates (Kirk), Kadie DuBose (Dexter), Taylor Shirer (Paul), Ryan St. Pierre, Kalin Levatino, Trevor Arceneaux, Cole Clay, Trey Arceneaux, Callee Clay and Kaile Levatino. Maw Maw Sue also had 11 great grandchildren.

Suzanna “Sue” was the daughter of the late Willard P. and Solange Lepine Simoneaux. She is also survived by her sister Nanette S. LeBlanc and brother Jules Simoneaux (Freida).  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Reginald Simoneaux and Jerome Simoneaux and sister Paulette S. Butcher.

Those chosen to honor her as her pallbearers will be Shane Arceneaux, Ryan St. Pierre, Trevor Arceneaux, Cole Clay, Trey Arceneaux and Kaile Levatino.

Sue was co-owner of Arceneaux Realty.  She was an active supporter of her husband’s love of politics and was always looking forward to accompanying him on various political adventures.  Mardi Gras was one of her favorite holidays and each year Sue and Delton enjoyed opening their home for the DuMonde Parade to friends and family from near and far.  She was always the “queen” in Delton’s eyes. Her favorite hobbies included cooking, sharing recipes and cheering on the Cubs.  Many of her days were spent sewing and crafting, making special keepsakes for loved ones.  Sue loved playing the card game Bridge with her friends and was always up for a game of Spades with her children and grandchildren. Sue was also a member of the La Busy Bees and the Jaycee Janes.

A sincere thank you is extended to all family, friends, and caregivers (Freida, Donna, Penny, Terry and Angie) who showed such compassion in our family’s time of need.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. 5th Street, LaPlace, LA 70068.
