LAPLACE — Rob Taylor Jr. is a lifelong resident of St. John Parish and the son of Robert and Mala Taylor Sr. of Reserve. He is an alum of East St John High, Southern University Baton Rouge,  Southeastern Louisiana University and Louisiana Technical College.

After completing his education, he started a career with Marathon Petroleum in Garyville, La. in operations and has been employed there for the last 21 years.

His work with kids started as a work study while at Southern University, where he worked as a physical education director and mentor at the EBR Parish Juvenile Detention Center. After finishing college, he went on to coach youth football with the NOAH organization in LaPlace. After three years, he moved on to coach and take on several positions with the St. John Jr. Wildcats until being asked to help start a tackle football program via Parish Recreation. Taylor now serves as president of the St. John Warriors Gold Football organization and vice president of the River Parish Power travel football organization both based out of Powerhouse Sports LaPlace, where he helps train and mentor area kids from age 5 to 18 years of age. He has identified a need to help local youth through several avenues such as education, sports and mentoring. He also have several kids that he prepares and takes to perspective colleges for visits (educational or sports) to help them decide on the best pathway to adult life. Taylor’s life experiences also serve as a template for life preparation and a way to help all involved understand that hard work and persistence has its rewards

His passion will be to bring change and the ability to work together as school board members to make the best decisions for all involved whether it’s the students, bus drivers, support staff, teachers, principals and all associated with the school system.

“We have to identify each problem step by step and come up with clear and precise solutions to move positively forward within an approved budget,” Taylor said. “Given the opportunity I will be transparent and open to suggestions in order to regain the trust of the parents of our local students, introduce events to meet our parents and keep them engaged throughout their children’s school years. Change is needed and I am up for the challenge as a candidate for District 10, so throughout early voting and on November 8, please vote #75 Rob Taylor Jr. – ‘Keeping the Kids First’.”
