Kenner Police: Tip leads to arrest of convicted felon with a stolen firearm

On October 13, 2022, at 8:15 AM, Kenner Police 911 center received a report of a subject walking in the 400 block of Veterans Boulevard, carrying a backpack with a gun inside.
Within minutes officers arrived on scene, observed the subject walking down Veterans. Officers stopped to speak with the subject at which time turned from the officers, threw the backpack to the ground and fled on foot.
The suspect later identified to be Dwight Jackson, Humble, TX., was found hiding on the roof of a neighborhood residence. Jackson was detained. Officers located a handgun, two magazines (one is an extended capacity magazine), rifle cartridges and gloves in the backpack dropped by Jackson. The gun was determined to have been stolen in New Orleans.
Jackson has prior arrest and convictions for Armed Robbery, First Degree Robbery and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Jackson was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Resisting Arrest.
