Metairie – On October 12, 2022, around 6:15 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a serious injury crash on US 61 near Cleary Avenue in Metairie. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 72-year-old Arden Fairleigh III of Kenner.
The initial investigation revealed that Fairleigh was driving a 2011 Toyota Tacoma south on US 61 near LA 3139 (Earhart Boulevard). For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota traveled off the roadway to the right and impacted a parked vehicle before overturning.
Fairleigh, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Impairment on the part of Fairleigh is not suspected, however routine toxicology results are pending.
Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued or distracted, follow all traffic laws and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
