LAPLACE — After cancelling Night Out Against Crime the past two years because of the COVID pandemic and then Hurricane Ida, the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office led Night Out Against Crime once again. The SJSO joined forces with residents October 4, 2022 for the national observance. The event was a big success, Sheriff Mike Tregre said, with officers attending 21 parties throughout the parish.
Sheriff Tregre and his fellow officers visited with residents for this special event to show criminals that the community and law enforcement are working together to fight crime in local neighborhoods.
Officers and Kajun the Canine, along with SJSO Superheroes Batman and Supergirl as well as Cinderella and Paw Patrol Rubie entertained both children and adults.
Residents also enjoyed touring SWAT’s armored vehicle, the BearCat.
Sheriff Tregre and the officers said they are grateful to residents for their great hospitality and sharing their great food with us. Night Out was a great way for law enforcement and citizens to connect with each other and develop a stronger relationship, he said.
