LAPLACE — Last week, St. Charles Catholic hosted a Lunch & Learn event featuring author David Michael Warren and illustrator Jaclyn Warren of the book titled, “BRILLIANT! 25 Catholic Scientists, Mathematicians, and Super Smart People.” The event explored the life stories of David and Jaclyn, a married couple who work together to glorify God with their artistic gifts. Over 60 students and faculty members attended the event and enjoyed lunch, desserts and door prizes, including snacks, stickers and copies of original films created by David Warren.

During the Lunch & Learn, David and Jaclyn Warren shared with the students how prioritizing their faith lives changes and shapes their career paths, enriching their work even when things seem uncertain. David shared his journey in the feature film industry and his motivation for choosing teaching and documentary films over Hollywood productions. Jaclyn shared her most recent projects with the group, expressing her hopes for her newest illustrations and portraits and contrasting them to the work she prioritized in her early career when she hadn’t yet decided to integrate her faith and her work. Both David and Jaclyn shared how much meaning their work has now that their whole selves are expressed in their creative and professional endeavors. SCC hopes to encourage students to walk by faith with a similar approach, trusting God to inspire their use of their talents, even as they spend time in high school learning about and developing those talents.
