(Baton Rouge, September 29, 2022) Louisiana Wildlife Federation (LWF) is accepting applications for the Edgar Veillon Conservation Leadership Corps (CLC), a leadership development program that provides expert training for future conservation leaders. Undergraduate students (18 or older) that are enrolled at any Louisiana college or university during the Spring 2023 semester are eligible to apply.

Students can apply online at lawildlifefed.org. The deadline to apply is November 21, 2022.

Training will be provided by leaders in natural resources conservation in the public, non-profit and private sectors. Students will be presented with real-world issues and experience. Through the integration of presentations, case studies, and collaborative activities, students will learn about conservation policy while building skills in leadership and advocacy.

This year’s program will be a hybrid format with two in-person meetings and two virtual meetings. Sessions will be held one weekend each month from January-April 2023 with students meeting on Friday evenings and a full day Saturday. Session dates are:

Session I: January 27-28, 2023 (in-person in Baton Rouge, La)

Session II: February 24-25, 2023 (online)

Session III: March 24-25, 2023 (in-person at Chicot State Park in Ville Platte, La)

Session IV: April 14-15, 2023 (online)

There is no fee to apply. Upon successful completion of the program, each participant will receive a Certificate of Accomplishment, a letter of commendation, and a $200 scholarship check. Students will also receive a complementary one-year membership to Louisiana Wildlife Federation where they can continue active involvement in conservation advocacy.
