RUDDOCK — A substantial award is being offered for information that leads to the return of Sage, a dog who went missing following a car accident on I-55 the morning of September 2.

Sage went missing between 8 and 9 a.m. last Friday after being pulled from a truck that caught fire on I-55 Southbound around mile marker 9-9.5. Sage slipped out of her harness and ran more than a mile, approaching the Ruddock exit. A witness reported seeing Sage jump off of the bridge, into the swamp below, after she was pursued by a good Samaritan in a light-colored SUV.

It is possible that Sage may be traveling north or south along the Highway 51 low road. However, there has not been any definitive information or reported sightings since she went missing.

The Cajun Navy is assisting with the search and private citizens have provided drone support. The “Help Find Sage” Facebook page has the most up-to-date information regarding the search efforts.

Sage’s family asks that no one engage, chase or call out to Sage in the event she is spotted, as this may cause her to run away. All sightings should be reported by calling 504-220-8753 or 504-301-5040.
