LAPLACE — Jerry Parker of LaPlace, a 10-year breast cancer survivor, is on a mission to give warmth and comfort to cancer patients by collecting new, clean pairs of socks in original packaging for children and adults.

All sizes are needed, and fun and colorful socks are welcome. No monetary donations are being accepted at this time. All sock donations will support patients in cancer treatment infusion centers within local communities. The goal is to collect more than 1,000 pairs of new socks and hopefully be able to expand the cause beyond the New Orleans region.

“As a cancer survivor, I know as well that socks help keep cancer patients warm during cancer treatment,” Parker said. “Seeing the smiles on patients’ faces is truly the best thing.”

Socks can be dropped off at any of the three locations:

  • Jerry Parker: Allied Express – Riverlands Shopping Center, 1420 W. Airline Highway #446 in LaPlace
  • Jerry Parker: The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy – 70 Dominican Drive in LaPlace
  • Sharnell Sanders – 7524 Avalon Way, New Orleans LA 70127
