A year of progress

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

How many of you are thinking of where we were last year at this very moment? I have to say watching the posts over the last couple days from 8/27/2021, Ida was just a tropical storm, to the posts leading up to 8/29/2021, it hit me harder than I realized. How quickly something can change, and we had no control whatsoever. It’s a reality check for me as I know it is for many of you. It seems like yesterday. It feels like it just happened. And many of you, our friends, are still not in your homes or dealing with the insurance chaos (or lack thereof). My heart is truly heavy  for everyone affected and prayers will continue for our continued healing, rebuilding, hope, and encouragement that thankfully we are in a new day far better than last year at this time. If you are still in need of any resources, please let us know. Our local leaders, including our parish administrations, are still working to help our communities come back. So, if you do need some help of any sort, let us know and we’ll do our best to help guide you in the right direction.

Last week, we had the honor of hosting senator Bill Cassidy to hear an update on Risk Rating 2.0. Flood protection is one of your chamber’s priorities and will probably remain permanent on the list. Thanks to the 30-plus members and parish leaders that attended. It was a great way to hear facts on the current legislation and great opportunity to share your stories directly with our Senator and his staff. Many thanks to St. Charles Sheriff’s Office and staff for hosting a great session!

We look forward to continuing to host these in the incoming future. Be sure to take advantage of the invites as they come.
