The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office is continuing its search for the bodies of four people who are believed to have drowned late Friday night in the Sabine River, near Mouth of Creek Road in Merryville, according to authorities.

Sheriff Mark Herford confirmed the victims were three adults and one juvenile, but the identities of the victims have not been released.

Herford said that it is believed the adults were attempting to save the juvenile who was caught in the river’s current when all four went under. The relations between the victims was unclear on Saturday.
