Edgard, LA – August 15, 2022 – Judge Nghana Lewis sentenced Antone Henderson, age 24 of Reserve, to eleven (11) years at  hard labor, with the Department of Corrections on one count of Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery. The charge arose from a June 5, 2018, armed robbery, which occurred at the Dollar General located at 3499 West Airline Highway in Reserve, Louisiana.

Investigators uncovered that Henderson and other individuals planned a robbery of the Dollar General in an attempt to steal money from the store and cashiers at the store. During the robbery, two male individuals wearing full-face masks approached Crystal Armant and Rachel Potts.  Ms. Armant was shot in the hand and scalp.  Henderson and a number of other local men were located near the area of the crime shortly after St. John Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the emergency call.

Prosecutors from the St. John the Baptist Parish District Attorney’s Office worked diligently with the victims and witnesses in this matter over the course of the last four years to determine the truth surrounding the late-night robbery. Ultimately, it was determined that a number of people were involved and that there was clearly a conspiracy put into place by these individuals.

The victims were unable to identify the two robbers, but investigators were able to link Henderson’s DNA to the crime scene. While authorities believe Henderson was the shooter, this information was never fully corroborated.

Numerous  issues arose during the course of the investigation but prosecutors were able to put forward sufficient evidence to prove Henderson was involved and contributed to the crime.

The District Attorney applauds the strength, courage, and resilience of our victims throughout the course of the criminal justice process. At the hearing, Crystal Armant fearlessly stood in open Court and agreed to the advisability of the Court accepting the defendant’s plea. There would be no criminal justice system without the continued efforts of witnesses and victims. In short, without the cooperation and assistance of victims, there is no justice.

Prosecuting the case were Assistant District Attorneys J. Philip Prescott, Jr. and Geoffrey Michel of the District Attorney’s Office.  Henderson was represented by St. John Parish Public Defender Randy Dukes.
