Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited a Zachary man for alleged an alleged deer hunting violation in East Baton Rouge Parish on Aug. 11.

Agents cited Darious M. Johnson, 32, for hunting deer during a closed season.

Agents received a tip that Johnson recently harvested a deer and visited Johnson’s residence.  At his residence, agents found deer parts from a recently harvested deer.  During questioning, Johnson admitted to harvesting a six point deer in East Baton Rouge Parish on Aug. 5.

Agents seized the deer meat and antlers.

Hunting during a closed season brings up to a $950 fine and 120 days in jail.  Johnson may also civil restitution totaling $1,624 for the replacement value of the illegally taken deer.
