CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS AND LAW SEMINAR REGISTRATION OPENS

BATON ROUGE, La.  — Registration is now open for the Louisiana Contractors Accreditation Institute’s Business and Law Seminar, which provides small and emerging construction businesses critical information about construction management and business operations. The six-week online course is a key component of Louisiana’s nationally recognized training institute for construction professionals.

For a third consecutive year, LCAI will offer the business and law course via the Zoom video conferencing platform. Online classes run Oct. 3 through Nov. 9, consisting of two-hour sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration began this week and will continue through Sept 26. A $200 fee covers the cost of the course and materials. To register, visit OpportunityLouisiana.com/LCAI-BL and click the “Apply Now” button.

The Business and Law Course is one of three LCAI programs offered each year, and is designed to support for small and emerging construction businesses. Topics to be covered include:

  • Bid process
  • Contract management
  • Estimating
  • Equipment management
  • Scheduling
  • Occupational safety
  • Risk management
  • Financial and business management
  • Bonding/access to capital
  • Certifications and available resources
  • Entrepreneurship training

Since 2016, more than 1,400 participants have graduated from LCAI seminars. These seminars are offered by Louisiana Economic Development, the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors, and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System to meet the needs of the state’s growing construction industry.
