BATON ROUGE, LA – As we anxiously await the official start of football season in the South, State Treasurer John M. Schroder wants to remind everyone that HoopLA 2022, the Louisiana House vs. Senate hot hoops competition for charity, is available for viewing free online via YurView.

The 11th annual contest on the hardwood featuring plenty of rebounds by Representatives and swishes by Senators can be watched with no subscription required at yurview.com/featured/hoopla-house-senate-basketball-game-2/. The replay also features performances by the New Orleans Pelicans Entertainment team.

LSU’s Pete Maravich Assembly Center was host of the game earlier this year, which not only gave the victorious House bragging rights for the year, but also raised money for the refurbishment of outdoor basketball courts in two Legislative districts.

The House nabbed a 38-30 win with the help of New Orleans Rep. Matthew Willard, the game’s MVP. Port Allen Sen. Rick Ward was the game’s high scorer.

As is tradition, after the game, the names of two legislators were drawn from a bowl to determine whose districts would receiving funding for court facelifts. Alexandria’s Rep. Ed Larvadain and New Orleans’ Rep. Royce Duplessis were this year’s lucky winners. The recipient court locations are Van McMurry Playground on Phillip Street in New Orleans and Cheatham Park on Jones Avenue, across from Peabody Magnet High School in Alexandria.
