LAPLACE — In the months to come, as you are excited for all the changes autumn brings, you may be looking to become more active in your local community. One way to serve the needs of those most vulnerable is through Child Advocacy Services’ Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteer Program.

Morgan Malone, recruiter for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John and Tangipahoa parishes, said the community is in need of trusting adults to make a difference in the lives of children in foster care.

Nearly half the children in foster care in the River Parishes do not have someone to be their advocate. Child Advocacy Services CASA Program trains everyday community members to advocate for a child in foster care.

By becoming a CASA, individuals can change a child’s story and improve the community by helping those in need.
