DESTREHAN — The range has reopened, and St. Charles Parish 4-H Shooting Sports is getting ready for a new season.

The program is open to children in fourth through 12th grade. The goal of the program is to teach firearm safety to the children.

While rifle, shotgun and archery instruction have been offered in the past, the focus this year will be on shotguns only due to a shortage of volunteer instructors.

Those interested in helping St. Charles Parish 4-H add a discipline to this year’s Shooting Sports season may attend an eight-hour instructor course September 24 in Ascension Parish.

Please message Niki Tastet Beckemeyer on Facebook for more information about the Shooting Sports program.
