On July 16, 2022, a sixteen-year-old juvenile was taken into custody by the Kenner Police Department and charged as a Principal to Second Degree Murder. This is the second juvenile to be arrested for the March 25, 2022 homicide of Terral McGee, 26, of Kenner who was shot and killed in the 700 block of Vouray Drive in Kenner.
Kenner Police have been investigating a number of shootings, between two opposing groups, that have occurred over several months in and around the Forty Second Street and Newport Place area of Kenner. The two most recent shooting incidents occurred on June 26, 2022, at 11:45 PM, where several suspects engaged in an exchange of gunfire in the 1600 block of Newport Place, Kenner, and again, on June 29, 2022, at 9:00 AM, in the 1600 block of Newport Place, a fifteen-year-old shot a thirteen-year-old. The fifteen-year-old was arrested the following day.
Kenner Police believe the March homicide is related to the ongoing dispute between the two opposing groups.
Kenner Police Detectives have executed five different search warrants during the course of the investigation which have resulted in nine guns seized and seven people arrested, some on multiple offenses. The charges include Second Degree Murder, Attempt Second Degree Murder, Narcotics and Burglary. In addition to the guns, a bullet proof vest and narcotics were also seized.
