Local ‘elite athletes’ are headed to the Junior Olympics

LAPLACE — The River Parish Hornets Track Club punched their ticket to Nationals after a great weekend of competition at the AAU Region 11 Qualifiers that was held at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond June 15-18, 2022.
More than 62 teams and 800 athletes competed in the events. The top six finishers in all age groups in each individual running event, field events and relays advanced and the top four in multi-events advanced to the 2022 AAU National Junior Olympic Games to be held in Greensboro, North Carolina from July 30 – August 6, 2022.
Nine River Parish Hornets qualified for the AAU National 2022 Jr. Olympics. The qualifiers are Kamryn Banks, Parker Causey, Drake Joseph, Kyrie McGuffery, Louis McKinley, Elijah McKinley, Jason Ray, James Thompson Jr. and Kaysen Turner.
