On July 13, 2022, a seventeen-year-old juvenile was arrested at his home in Laplace for a Second-Degree Murder warrant.
On March 25, 2022, Kenner Police investigated the homicide of Terrall McGee, 26, Kenner, who was shot and killed in the 700 block of Vouray Drive, Kenner. During the course of the investigation, the arrested seventeen-year-old juvenile became a person of interest in the homicide. The arrested juvenile was a target of a shooting in early March, as he sat in his vehicle at the intersection of Village Road and West Esplanade. He was uncooperative in that investigation and no arrest was made.
Kenner Police have been investigating a number of back and forth shootings, between two opposing groups, that have happened over several months in and around the Forty Second Street and Newport Place area of Kenner.
The two most recent shooting incidents occurred on June 26, 2022, at 11:45 PM, in which several suspects engaged in an exchange of gunfire in the 1600 block of Newport Place, Kenner. Again, on June 29, 2022, at 9:00 AM, in the 1600 block of Newport Place, a fifteen-year-old shot a thirteen-year-old. The fifteen-year-old was arrested the following day.
Kenner Police believe the March homicide is related to the ongoing dispute between the two opposing groups. Additional arrests are expected.
