TPSO: Man arrested for violent domestic abuse charges

Chief Jimmy Travis reports the arrest of James Ballard, Jr., a 35 year-old white male from Roseland, on a slew of charges stemming from a domestic disturbance.
In the early morning hours of July 3, 2022, deputies arrived at Ballard’s residence and could hear voices and footsteps inside. After several times knocking and announcing their presence to no avail, a search warrant was submitted and approved, after which entry was made into the residence. Shortly after making entry, Ballard gave up and was taken into custody with K9 assistance.
In a previous release, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office announced Ballard was being sought for multiple violent domestic offenses, after it was reported that Ballard had poured acid and Clorox toilet bleach on the face of a female partner, as well as causing major bruising to her body, including a punctured lung.
Ballard was charged with:
(1) count – Attempted 2nd Degree Murder
(1) count – 2nd Degree Rape
(3) counts – Protective Order Violation
(1) count – False Imprisonment
(1) count – Aggravated 2nd Degree Battery
(4) counts – Failure to Appear
