Hotard to speak at housing meeting

LAPLACE — Parish President Jaclyn Hotard will address a variety of housing topics impacting residents in St. John the Baptist Parish and the metro area during the July general membership meeting of the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans.

July topics include improving internal drainage in St. John Parish, code changes in St. John Parish, and free residential trade certification training at the new Drew Brees BuildStrong Academy in Kenner.

The meeting is open to the public from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 7 at Riverlands Country Club, located at 500 Fairway Drive in LaPlace. Refreshments will be served.

Parish President Hotard is a board member of the Louisiana State Licensing Board of Contractors. Other guest speakers featured at the July meeting will be Michael Wich and Leigh Hallas. Wich is the chief building officer for the South Central Planning and Development Commission and vice president of the international code council. Hallas is the director of the Drew Brees BuildStrong Academy in Kenner.

Founded in 1941, the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans provides members with continuing education, events for networking opportunities and advocacy to protect the home building industry. The HBA is a non-profit professional organization serving nearly 1,000 builders and associate members encompassing seven parishes throughout Louisiana, including Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemine, St. John the Baptist, St. James and St. Charles. The Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans is currently celebrating 80 years as the voice of the residential housing industry across the metro area.
