Virginia Mary Bornes Fontenot, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend was called home by our Lord and Savior on June 25, 2022 at the age of 85 surrounded by family. She was born on June 28, 1936 in Jackson, MS and was a 1955 graduate of Amite High School. Virginia was a long time resident of Paulina, LA.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Anthony L. Fontenot, Sr. Her 4 daughters: Judith F. Warner (Mickey), Jessica F. Entremont, Jodie A. Fontenot and Jena F. Schexnayder (Tod Detillier). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Joshua L. Entremont (Rene), Jeanne M. Entremont, Jamie P. Entremont (Angela), Nicholas J. Warner, Cliff M. Warner (Holly), Brooke A. Warner (Jessica Sanford), Arielle R. Collins (Ryan), Seth M. Roussel, Carroll “Tre” Schexnayder, III ; 13 Great Grandchildren: Jacob and Emilie Entremont, Kaylee Gonzalez, Coen and Perrin Entremont, Jonathan and Dean Warner, Charlotte and Olivia Collins, Domanic Entremont, Justice and Jaydenn Entremont and Brody Leger and her sister, Leota B. Cambetta.
Virginia was preceded in death by her loving son Anthony L. Fontenot, Jr., her parents Emmanuel and Margaret Bornes, her in-laws Wycliffe and Agnes Fontenot, grandsons Jeremy and Jacques Entremont, son-in-law Barry Entremont and brother-in-law Julius Cambetta.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Anyone sharing a meal at her table instantly became part of the family. Because of her sunny disposition and gentle heart she was loved by all.
We wish to give a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Ochsner Medical Centers in Baton Rouge and Jefferson Main Campus and Amedysis Hospice of Baton Rouge for the compassionate care shown to Virginia during her brief illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Service at Rose Lynn Funeral Home, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, LA on Friday, July 1, 2022. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St. Joseph Catholic Church Mausoleum, Paulina, LA.
