International Women in Engineering Day was observed on June 23.

Dear editor,

This is Greenfield Grain Elevator Project Manager Tanisha A. Marshall and I wanted to highlight International Women in Engineering Day.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, women make up just 32% of the STEM workforce. That’s why I’m proud to have my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Southern University and A&M College. I’ve also gone on to receive my Master of Business Administration from Mississippi State University, become a certified Certified Project Manager Professional, and gain over 20 years of experience in the field.

Greenfield has been focused on investing in the West Bank community before even breaking ground on the grain elevator. Already, our team has developed a partnership with West St. John High School to provide scholarships exclusively to West St. John High School students, so the young people of the West Bank can have access to education and employment opportunities after graduating from college.
We have also begun the process of working with River Parishes Community College to develop in-house certified training programs for local residents to train or qualify for employment opportunities as they arise.
The Greenfield team is working tirelessly to make sure young women across St. John the Baptist Parish have access to opportunities that will lead them to a brighter future.

Sincerely,
Tanisha A. Marshall
