National Weather Service issues excessive heat warning for St. John Parish

LAPLACE — The US National Weather Service New Orleans Louisiana has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for St. John today. Feel-like temperatures could become dangerously high (up to 115 degrees) for several hours with record temperatures through the weekend.

  • If planning to be outdoors, drink plenty of fluids, take breaks in an air-conditioned room.
  • Check on relatives and neighbors and provide adequate shade and water for pets.
  • Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstance.

** For weekend outdoor plans/events, potentially dangerous heat is expected to continue through Sunday with the potential for more advisories and/or an Excessive Heat Warning.**
