Harvey – Shortly after 1:00 p.m. yesterday, Troopers began investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the parking lot of the Office of Motor Vehicle (OMV) building at 2150 Westbank Expressway in Harvey. There were no reported injuries in the shooting.

The initial investigation revealed the incident occurred as a male subject, later identified as 35-year-old Kevin Fair, was observed running after two individuals in the parking lot. While chasing after the individuals, Fair discharged a firearm. Upon being confronted by a DPS Police Officer providing security at the OMV location, Fair fled the scene in a vehicle that belonged to one of the victims.

A nearby Trooper observed the vehicle leaving the parking lot and initiated a traffic stop. Fair refused to stop and fled from Troopers. During the pursuit, Fair crashed into a vehicle on Peters Road near 4th Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.

While in custody, Fair experienced a medical emergency and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Upon medical clearance, Troopers transported Fair to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center where he was booked on criminal charges for Armed Robbery; Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Flight from an Officer.

The investigation is ongoing and may result in additional charges. Further information will be released when it becomes available.
